Configuring BSNL Broadband wifi connection for Linux (UBUNTU) :

In terminal : type:

sudo su -

then enter password and hit ENTER.

--This takes you to the root where you can configure the pppoe settings.

Then type :

 "pppoeconf "

{ this opens configuration wizard }

  Then choose your options accordingly, and enable the configured PPPD in the end, or later by typing :

"pon" in terminal;

To check the status :

type (in terminal) :  "plog"

and hit Enter !!
